Introduction:
*Trigger warning. This is a conversation about rape and the effects after Taryn grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. After attending the Air Force Academy and playing division one soccer, she attended the University of Utah and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. She began her legal career as a legal assistant while finishing her undergraduate degree, working mostly on criminal law, family law, and miscellaneous civil litigation matters. After gaining knowledge and encouragement from her mentors, she attended the University of Utah’s S.J. Quinney College of Law. She graduated from law school in 2013, earning her Juris Doctorate with highest honors. Taryn discusses her date rape and the effects that have come along after. She speaks about what she is doing to bring about different verbiage on HB207 so that it will be easier for victims to prosecute their perpetrators. How we as a community need to become trauma informed, and how that will help in helping the victim as they go through this hard time. Please write to your legislators and let them know that you support HB207 and want them to help put it through.
